What do you use? I've got several old style plastic cans I've had for years. Why can't makers put actual gals on containers instead of "safe fill level"? Mine go over quite a few oz.

I have a VP 5 gallon, no spill 5 gallon, 1.25 gallon no spill, and a few other old ones. I don't have any metal cans. The VP are awesome to fill the smaller jugs from

I want plastic & air tight to keep as much moisture out as possible. I actually like the No-Spill.

Also, I carefully watch the gas pump to get the amount desired.

I have both.
Three of the old metal military cans and several No-Spill, in various sizes.
I like the 1.25 gal No-Spill for saw mix and the 2.5 gal for splitter gas.

Might have to try one. No markings on mine, so I use a graduated container to measure in fuel to nail the ratio. I'm kind of anal about my mix.

Do you ever have trouble with your cans swelling up like a balloon keeping them air tight.
I keep mine cracked a bit cause they will swell up like a balloon.

For me, I don't worry much about the swelling up in the heat. But when you fill up when it's 90° out, and the next day it's 50°. The can gets sucked in so far I'm surprised the corners don't separate.

Got the plastic no spill and haven't looked back. Plastic is very thick compared to the reg gas cans available to me around here.

Lol! They swell but have never been a problem. It's shrinkage that seems to be harder on them. They recommend to burp frequently.

Got my 1.25gal No-Spill today. Man what a nice can! I tested the 1gal mark for correct volume and it's spot-on.

Well after listening to some of you fella kind advice on the ethanol fuel post I went out tonight & filled an old vp 5 gallon can with e free 91 octane after first putting in 16 oz. of husky synthetic 2 cycle oil in. I then fill an old orange stihl gallon bar oil container to take cutting with me. Been using itasca bar oil lately and that comes in a green jug do I always know which is which. This also prevents me from accidentally straight gassing my saws because I know all my no spill cans only have straight gas in em & never any 2 cycle.
