Let's hear about your treasure hunts!

I have many memorable finds...the best was a $5 Jonsered 49SP.

Went to yard sale and it was mostly man stuff so I asked the guy if he had any saws,,, I do,, a stihl o44 with no compression,,, he brings it out, its complete and he gives it a pull,, yup no compression, so we haggle and settle on $60 for the parts saw, get it home to find the only thing wrong was the spark plug was out!!! 160 comp.
To top it off the saw was badged o44 but in fact 046, someone had done some port work on it to boot,, long story short my friend who had lost his 361 out of his truck has a new to him saw. That is probably my best score ever,,

Got this Wizard 214 (basically a Poulan Micro XXV) yesterday for $5. Sold by Western Auto in 1970s. Compression feels good. I'm sure it will need fuel line, pickup and carb work. 14" bar looks gigantic. LOL. This is a good trail rider saw - if it falls off and you run over it, it'll still run fine.

I got a CL saw that didn't sell at a garage sale, a JD CS56 (Efco) for $20. Cleaned it up, washed it down, ran it a bit, and sold it on eBay for like $180 a week or two later.

Otherwise, we don't have crap here on CL or at garage/estate sales, sadly.

I got a 017 for 20.00 bucks with a new in the box carb. Guy said it wouldn't start so he bought the carb to "fix"it, but he never installed it. I took it home and put gas in it and it's still running perfect.
I've also found a 015 for 10.00 that needed fuel lines.

Not a yard sale find but at a local swap meet i picked up
a Sachs Dolmar 133 for 20 bucks 20 some years ago. All
it needed was a fuel line. Still own it and runs perfect.

I got a Dolmar 166 at a retired logger's garage sale for $50. He'd let his 17 year-old son try to make it into a "hotsaw" years before and so it was missing the air filter cover and all the intake parts. Luckily the rest of it was there and the engine is in mint condition. It had about a 3/4" thick layer of dust on it and everyone who'd looked at it thought it was a Homelite.
