Fun 2 strokes. I had a 73 Yamaha 360. Stupid starter kicked back on me, couldn't walk right for a while. Miss the lt500 the neighbors had and the dangerous 250r trikes in air and water cooling. Kawsaki tecate's , Yamaha yz490. It's a wonder any of us didn't end up in the er.

Who says we didn’t end up in the er? Lol
I have had several tecate’s and 85-86 atc250r’s Even had an atc500r that I built, had a custom drag pipe and ran on alky for a while, it was a handful! Never had an lt500, would have liked to ride one! Still have a kx500 motor laying around..don’t now what i am going to do with it! Lol

I wish the GP bikes went back to 2stroke 500's, they really separated the good riders from the pack. The modern 1000cc 4stroke GP bike is so smooth and nice to ride it kinda takes the fun out of it. I like the bike add, one of the best ways to sell a bike is too take they buyer for a ride & scare the be-Jesus out of him.

The younger guys need to have a ride on one of the older two-strokes where the power to weight ratio was boarderline insane. Besides the fine handling of a lightweight bike, the biggest concern was getting 'power to the ground' - and when you got it, it was a rush of adrenaline.

My YZ250 just isn’t anywhere near the same. They aren’t nearly as scary as everyone makes them out to be. Very smooth and torquey, but gobs of power everywhere. Not a revver like the last couple generations of 250, but way more useable power all over.

I still have a pair of liquid cooled ATC250r, along with (3) 350x, Big Red, 125m, 110, and a 70 with a 110 put bike mill in it.. lol! If I had a dollar for every time I was asked "aren't those things illegal" when out riding...

Back in the day I had a 1972 CZ 250, Air cooled motor with the huge radial finned head. That thing
would go. I then up graded to a 1978 Suzuki RM 400. That bike was fun and scary fast. My last bike
was a 1998 Honda CR 250. It was the most on the pipe best running bike I ever owned.

Does anyone remember All Pro Cycle out on Diamond Lake boulevard in Roseburg? Tucker and his brother, if I remember correctly, stuffed two kx500 motors in a stretched tecate frame... called it the green machine. It was insane. I watched him pop the clutch and it launched across the parking lot so fast he acted like he pissed himself. I swear it didn't touch pavement until he found a way to let off the throttle.
There were others out on the sand back then with all kinds of crazy builds. Polaris 1100 motors stuffed into 250r frames and the like. That's well before they stopped drag racing on the beach.
