I did not buy any oem parts for this build. It will only be an occasional use saw.
The saw passed pressure and vacuum tests.
The oiler works very good spit oil all over my floor when i was test running.
Compression came in at 178.
Squish was at 27 thousands.
Hung a 28” sugi bar with a full comp chain.
Fired on pull 5 running on pull 7.
Idle set to 2800 full throttle set at 11500.
The only issue i have yet is the high idle after choke does not work.

I got a half a tank thru it in some 24” red oak and she pulls good.

I put together a 660 also in about eight hours, starting with case halves and freeze/heat method. Every part in the Saw is from the kit, no OEM. I got the parts list from Huztl and Stihl MS 660 shop manual from eBay on CD which helped identify some of the obscure parts that nobody mentioned on any of the videos I watched. Put a Huztl 28” bar/chain on it. Runs like a demon but only near the end of my first tank of gas. Won’t use it too much, I did it primarily for the experience. like other old-timers have said, the more experience you get, the smaller your saw. I like small saws with very sharp chains.

I have about 10 tanks through it and it is a strong runner.

I did get the high idle to work by 3d printing a block at work. I got the file from a thread on this site and it works great now.
