Well I can't let Rye have all the fun. Here's my load for the day:

Wish I had a nice dually like Rye though. Before this was hitched to my tractor I pulled it home with my 300-6 powered F250. Slowly...

This afternoon I spent an hour or two splitting up that trailer load of wood. Didn't quite get it all, but I made a pretty good dent before the dinner bell. There's some 16" oak in the foreground, but everything else is soft wood at 32".rps20180205_180203_770.jpg

How well do you like your L3800? A neighbor has one that I might buy with a few attachments, but am not really sure, yet, what it can and can't (more like should and shouldn't) do...
Sorry it took me forever to reply, just saw your post tonight.
I like it a lot.
I don't have an L3800, but I considered that model when I was shopping for my Kubota (ended up going one size larger) and I have a little NH that's similar in size to the L3800. They're super handy sized tractors. If you can buy one for a decent price, I'd say go for it. They hold their value extremely well, so you can always sell it if you want to change sizes.

The L3800 has the most HP they offer in that size/weight of tractor, so it's great for PTO tasks like bush hogging or rototilling. They're not real large or heavy tractors. You could look up the specs, but I think the loader capacity is about 1200#. The only reason I went bigger is because I wanted to lift bigger logs than that, and to be able to unload pallets of feed from a semi. But, if you don't mind cutting logs into smaller pieces, and taking more trips, a tractor that size might be perfect. I'd recommend making sure the tires are loaded, and even consider buying/making some wheel weights. Also, when pushing the limits of the loader, make sure you have plenty of weight on the three point for ballast. About 1000# is probably in the neighborhood for that tractor.

Is the one you're considering hydrostatic?
They are a great tractor as you say, but they have more guts than butt, I have loaded tires and always have my skidder on there or a 1k lbs 5' brush hog. I can get the back end off the ground still with the skidding winch on there in the wrong situation, but I like that as it lets me know I'm doing a bit more than I should.
Yes it's a hydrostat. I think it has about 800 hours on it and it's currently on it's 3rd owner and I know Him well and the previous one. It's been well maintained, has the standard bucket, a box grader, 5' bush hog, post hole digger and rototiller... There may be a finish mower and pallet forks too, I'm not sure. I could probably buy the whole deal for 12K.
I'f you haven't bought it yet, I'd at least get some cash down on it to hold it, they go quick if people hear about them being for sale, I'd hate to see you loose it to someone else, they are very handy.
Used mine last week for picking up a mess I made, then I had a few rounds of locust that I meant to pick up before winter(that didn't happen) and got them loaded up too. since I found them again.

Haven’t gotten it in the woods yet, just brought it home yesterday:). It’s an industrial John Deere 301A, 46hp diesel. My little Farmall A is going to get a much deserved break from hauling logs that are too big for it lol!

Looks like a Yellow, smaller vesion of a 3020!
Sure does! It’s direct AG equivalent is the 1020. I like that era of Deere, nice looking tractors.
Got this set up for dragging logs and tried it out yesterday...man does this thing lift and pull like a champ.

I helped my good friend Cory remove a honey locust and a little pine at his place in town last Friday. We used my tractor to load the brush onto my deckover trailer. Then we pulled the trailer to the brush dump on the other side of town. Not wanting to unload it by hand, Cory followed me over on the tractor. Sure is nice living in farm country when you need to drive your tractor through town.

We loaded the logs onto the trailer and I pulled it home that afternoon. I got them bucked up on Saturday, and Cory was kind enough to drive the tractor home on Sunday morning. It was only about a 25 minute drive, so it was faster than bringing the trailer back in, loading, securing, driving home, unloading, etc. Plus, this way I didn't have to dump the wood on the ground. Here's the load after I got it mostly bucked up. There's more there than it looks like; I was standing on the trailer, so it is a little skewed.

I spent a little time splitting yesterday afternoon, and finished up today, despite the freezing rain and a visit from my insurance agent. All in all it's a nice pile of locust for the 2019-2020 heating season, and a few 32" pine splits for the 2019 syrup season. rps20180219_193100_671.jpg rps20180219_193154_189.jpg

I got my last load moved over from my friend Alex's house. I hired a local tree service with a knuckle boom truck to move 4 loads in their truck and I had them load my trailer at the same time. I only made it for 3 of the loads though. All in all I figure we moved about 18-20 cords. Here's yesterday's load after I finished putting a tank of gas through my 261.rps20180221_140352_288.jpgrps20180221_140420_597.jpg

I'm inside with my daughter for nap time, but I'm gonna head out this afternoon to get it split.

Haven’t had a chance to get in the woods yet but here’s my little Farmall Super A, it will be pulling light duty stuff with my son. I’ve done a lot with this little tractor and it’s not going anywhere as it is too good a machine to let go of, but more reason than that is because it was my grampas.
