Did a bit of splitting in July. Glad to have it done. The new splitter works great. TM with 6 way.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

How does it handle stringy wood (elm, pecan, gum, etc.)? How does it handle knotty wood?

The 6 way head would not handle them well. But it can be switched to a single wedge or 4 way for more difficult woods. Not hard to switch the head.
The single will split about anything. The 4 way is great for boiler wood.

Get as much as You can, oak can sit a long while once bucked, split and staked.

Lol, I use that as a "cover your azz" kinda deal. I've been pulled over by Johnny Law before for an unsecured load, so this way it appears as though I made an effort. It was a small town cop that was probably bored and has a reputation for this type of thing.

If you search truck bed net you'll find a match.

I've seen PA guys on fhc mention abiding by a bunch of loaded trailer and truck laws. Here, they only hassle you if you're commercial. It may also be a residential law, but not enforced. Not sure

As long as the wood was packed nice and tight and nothing flopping around you wouldn't have to cover it ip here. You just can't lose any of the load on the roadway.
But covering itbis a good idea...

Back at it again. Boss moved the logs so I didn’t have to drive through his yard loaded.

I didn’t even get to the backyard trees yet. I have a wood mountain to split when it cools off. Many more pics to come.
