Finally got my mess all split. Fought 5-6 cords. All for the future house build. I’m hoping it’s enough for two years so I can stay one year ahead. Red oak, ask, and beech.

Brought home a couple nice loads of firewood today. First load wasn't quite as heavy. I could definitely tell this one was back there .View attachment 153104

I got tired of being pushed and bounced around by that big as$ bumper pull. This is much more comfy. rps20181210_232138_119.jpg

Agreed to pickup a small load of seasoned oak, never thought to ask what species it was...low and behold it was the dreaded, "red oak!"
My wife has an acute allergy to the stuff!
Yet, I learned that almost anything that can happen in the woods, will happen! Thank God I brought along my trusty 261C.
So instead going home empty-handed, I wound up with a decent load of seasoned hackberry.:elefant:
Burns pretty hot and decent, yet has a strange type of aroma. Kinda reminds me of an old lady who lived next door to my Granny, who seemed to shy away from bathing!:drooling: :monoloco:
I'm grateful though.

These are some of the logs from the load I posted last week. Tossed them up on the new gooseneck for bucking, then I park the splitter right at the back of the trailer. Splits get pushed onto the stack of pallets so my helper doesn't have to bend over to pick them up. Should be good firewood by winter 2020-2021. :)

Today, I finished the bucking up, then baby sitted the smoker and help load the trailer. She did do like 95% of the busting and probably 50% of the trailer loading too. Felt strange for me to cook while she worked but oh well lol. 4th and final load for the day.

Looks good.
Always a good idea to stock up when you can, many times good sources dry up before you can get it.

Free, and already cut to 16-18”, in a pile on a gravel pad. All I have to do is haul it 10 miles. I’m going to get it as quick as I can.
