The disassembly is the best part! Fall down on its own?
It’s a 4ft diameter white oak that got uprooted during a windstorm. Destroyed the cottage. The boat was moved so it would be safe then a couple weeks ago there were more strong winds and a top broke off another tree and crushed it. Bad news is no place to stay and the wife can’t row fast enough to water ski. Good news is lots of saw time and with all the trees down I’ll be 3-4 years ahead on wood.

Finally got a break from rain this weekend and I got a chance to split some of the rounds that have been sitting since the first of the year.
Still have a bunch to go but at least I got started.

My uncles oak firewood.
I took the logs apart with my Dolmar PS-7310 , bucked to ~10" length to his request (don't ask, I haven't).

I didn't split any, but I noodled some knotty rounds.

I absolutely love your stacking method, I have been experimenting with some old pallets and they seem to do the job quite well.
No moisture soaking from the ground as the pile is drying up.
Good to see others here with the same ideas!

I can only take credit for putting the pallets down, my fiancee did 99% of the stacking:)

Pallets do work well. I used them for a long time. I drove T posts on either side to keep things intact. I'd still be using them if my wife hadn't wanted something more asthectically pleasing.

I use the T post as well, didn't have any for this stack but will stop and get some this week so I can even the stack out
