Did you all know a ton of anthracite coal as 26 million btu's of heat and a cord of hickory is 28 million, I didn't .
I know I love hickory...smells great, burns great, makes good taste great!!!!

I don’t know if I like hickory or Osage better...I like the smell of burning Osage too....both will test your sharpening skills!!!

Been trying to get all my stacking and splitting done during winter this year.
I have never seen anyone around here have it stacked that way. I like it. I usually make a big disorganized pile. Interesting concept. My gramps always had a big pile so I guess that’s why I do it

Up off the ground keeps the wood dry and stacking it this way dries it out real fast. Dry wood is the secret to very little creosote build up.

Awesome!
Mag, can you show a couple close up shots of your show horse?
That looks like a design that would work for me.
Not being the most gifted man with my mitts...I need all the help I can get!!:(

We are expecting a big storm tomorrow but once it clears I will get some pics for you. I had some scrap 2x6's and that is why I used them, but it has worked out well for me.

My son helped me cut a little wood for work today. We had a red oak split and fall across a road that needed to be cleared. Couldn't let it go to waste. Also got a chance to run my two new MMWS saws. View attachment 107058
Enjoy the time you have cutting with your son.
My boys still talk about our wood cutting forays. Some days, we spent the entire day working. Others, we intended to work but ended up working a few hours and spending the rest of the day shooting .22's, bows or just cooking up some backstrap, from a recent deer hunt, and sitting around discussing life.
They're grown with their own families now and have moved away.
I really miss those days, they were special.
I'm now a one man band and even though I love being in the woods and running my saws, there's something missing, that is gone forever.
Enjoy the time with your son, those are days that will define the man he becomes.
