Finally, I was the first caller. Scored a a 2010 346xp today. Of course it doesn't run, but is complete. It will need a piston and rings at least. I have a nice OE top end, would it wrong of me to use it on this saw? Pressure and vacuum test will be done after it gets a bath before any more tear down.

That’s a grand pic of the exhaust & piston, and those Ali shavings in the exhaust.
Poast a pic of the cylinder and the piston when you pulll it.
Like @Lone Wolf says I don’t think the cylinder will klean up, very well if not at all. But happy to be proved wrong
And if you do try clean the cylinder up poast a pic of it. It’s just for my experience of what’s good and what’s rubbish, ie I wonna a learn from others and waste less time of my own. ;)

Most of the blown up saws I get here are primarily damaged on the exhaust side of the piston. Overheat is the primary culprit, (forcing through wood with dull chain, etc). On a straight gas victim, the piston is often damaged all the way around. Most of the bad bearings I've seen have been from straight gassed saws. With that much scraping going on in the OP's saw, it appears to be more abrasion than the high temp melting from a typical overheat. The rings probably have the same grooves in them as what's on the piston. That's why I think the cylinder is going to be scrap. Only a visual will tell for sure.

Screwed around with for a while today. Holds pressure and vacuum, limiter caps are in place. Leaning towards straight gassed but, the fuel in the tank was mixed. Needs a fuel tank, cracked at the trigger (PM me if you have NE you need to part with). Not pulled the top yet.

Yup, as I was saying, damage all the way around the piston. Typical of straight gas. That won't buff out very well...

Will split the case, the bearings still feel good. I give it a good bath when it warms up. and start from the ground up. Pretty sure this has never been apart for anything to include a cleaning.

Today's update: No progress on the NE. Won an OE crankcase Sunday on Ebay. Seller was near by, and it showed up in the mail today. Pulled the OE 346 top end off a 351 and installed on new case this evening. P&V tested, and got mostly together. The 351 will be getting an original OEM top end on it tomorrow and tested. Right now its on a 350 that I can not get the base to seal to the case.
The NE 346 came with a limited coil, this will get moved to the 351. The OE 346 got the unlimited coil from the 350, and the NE will end up with an unlimited as well.
Here is the new to me OE 346, just needs a top cover and starter decal20180313_193539[1].jpg 20180313_193534[1].jpg

Just ordered an OEM top end, for the NE 346. Also ordered cabers for the OE 346 and 351. Small Husky pack is getting organized.
