Ever been screwed over on ebay.

I baught a carbutator the other day on ebay and just checked my accound and way more went out then should have. The add says free shipping and when i went to check it shows 50 US extra for shipping.
I contacted the seller to hopfully get a refund so will have to wait to see what happens.
Anyone else have anything like this and get a refund. Here is a couple.pics of what i have showing it was free shipping.

I think you need to look if they limit the free shipping to some areas but not others.

Here in the uk, some places have additional shipping costs, eg Scottish highlands, most peeps know this. And look to see what the additional charges are.

I guess it’s a bit of a hidden charge, and a few will not notice it. So if they don’t declare where free shipping is limited to. You should be ok.

Edit: I’ve brought from huzlt on eBay.com (not .co.uk) offering free shipping to USA and paid the same price...

Just sayin,,,,Now huzlt (aka farmatec) web page, offers PayPal as a payment then adds postage on top after payment..... but they don’t say free postage anywhere. But you can see postage if you look.... .

I think what I’m saying is look for the free postage limits ie USA! Or worldwide.

I will say if you try to search this number you have to be on the eBay .co.uk site... so if you give me a number I will have to look on the eBay.com site

So the eBay link above, where I said, “like this” I idid this on my phone and sent it to my iPad.
However, when I touch the link. It takes me to the eBay page. And I noticed this (I took a screen shot)

So you can see where it says postage free. Then under this it says (see exclusions) when I click on this, because it’s underlined. It takes me to this page..

Now you can see where I can change country... and get rates or if I want to choose a quicker way of getting the item I can pay more.

On a last note... you could contact the seller and ask to cancel the order,,, if they have not shipped it... and are a good seller they should give you a refund.... I’ve done this in the morning, after buying some late night items and being drunk

I did some looking from the eBay number you supplied.. and change posting to Canada, you can see from the pics, what they want to charge.. as far as I can see.. from here

I just find it odd. I have never had where it says free on the add then changes when you click on it. It always says the shipping fee on the add.

us to canada - customs duty -- i used to use a outfit out of canada ( Niagara Falls area) for files and bandsaw blade stock then the customs duties started ticking up and it was no longer worth while

Sorry @merc_man. Feels deceptive: tiny print stuff. I got what @Wonkydonkey got when I changed my location to 'Canada'. Would be really hard to see on a cell phone screen.

Try contacting eBay (or your credit card company if you used a credit card) to see if you have any claim options with them.

Shipping from the US to Canada, and many other countries, can be ridiculously unfair. I tried to send something that weighed a few ounces in a padded envelope to UK and it was $15. Ordered something from Amazon for $2.50, with shipping, from China and it arrives in less than 2 weeks. Very unbalanced. These were low valued items, where tariffs should not have been an issue.

Shipping for me from south Florida or the Pacific north west takes about 3 days .To Australia via US airmail is about 4 days .Yet from northern Ohio to Ontario can take two weeks for a distance of around 250 miles the way the crow flies .
Mike Acres used to get a buddy of his to take stuff I ordered over the border rather than ship it out of British Columbia for both the price and the time savings . Canadian Post is just plain screwed up .
I shipped a bunch of lathe tooling to Brian W. aka "timber wolf " when he posted on chainsaw related sites .I shipped it as a gift,which it was and it took two weeks .My word the pony express would have been faster .

When I sold on ebay I didn't ship to foreign countries because of the hassle and expense. Free shipping usually means (to me) free shipping to the US. I honestly never figured out how the Chinese can sell a carb, fuel lines, filters etc. for just a few dollars....

Well you have huge conglomerates like Amazon and Zoro who have access to a zillion sources world wide .In addition they have deals with USPS,UPS, Fedex and others .If there is a demand for a part for anything ever made in numbers large enough to make an after market replacement profitable somebody some place will make it .For example you could build a Jeep CJ model just from parts sources including the body,frame and all the drive line .You could do just about the same with chainsaws ,old model UL Harleys or John-Deere model A tractors and model A Fords .
