I do have a new msrp for next year. Still waiting to hear if the 600 is gone. But 620 is $100 less now.
If you want a 620 now let me know. I may be able to get better pricing now. I also may have a 800 for a great price, I'll let you know in 2 days

I dont know much about john deere saws but from my reading they were originally made by homelite and echo? is that correct? anyways, I was at an old friends house this weekend and found this guy laying around. apparently it was his grandfathers and my buddy's dad said hes cut a lot of wood with it. dont know much about it but it looks like its in decent shape.

Cant answer on value. I picked this one up to see what these older echos are all about. The only design flaw I saw is how the carb and linkages are all in the carb box. Kind of a pain to reassemble.

cs1.jpg That was the biggest in the line up. loaded with features and Heavy...I think they are 75cc's. That will clean up real well, maybe even with just an oily rag. Chain could be original or box store, I doubt it has cut as much as they think...

CS-701SVL rebranded as a Craftsman 4.3 A/VL. Running well earlier this fall. External idle/oiler adjust, manual overide, good antivibe (for the era), steady running, and the epitome of robust. Very unique "whistle" when they throttle up. Gotta like all the saws in this series.

Banging off a few rounds. 8-pin.

I have this one on my bench at the moment.
Owner is willing to part with it and am considering it

Oil pump don't pump oil and nor does the rear oiler lever

Pick-up line in tank is likely dissolved. See if manual oiler operates when PTO side is down. I haven't had a SVL, VL or EVL that didn't need a new piece of Tygon. Pick-up screen can usually be coaxed out of the tank with some shaking. You need a pretty small pick-up to fit into the tank opening. I used some small brass (Husky) ones when the OEM was gone. Unique oil pump on those machines. The drum has a lobe that operates a follower/pump. That pump ( specific to the 601/701) was listed as higher output than the later 602/702 pumps. Healthy even when set midway. If you take the pump apart, note the number of turns it takes to thread out the adjuster. There is only a narrow range, within a single turn, where it operates through min to max flow. Any number of turns beyond/before that factory setting and you cannot moderate the flow or will have little or no output. Trial and error can be tedious.

Better stock up on bar oil if it ends up sticking around.
