Ok boys. This maybe a super slow build thread. As I really like what im seeing so I may hold off doing any drastic changes till I can sell a couple saws and buy another one. That said. Let's get started. @WSE15 could you post up a few of the exterior pics?

Here's the initial cuts. Ran it along side my ported 4300 but mainly getting a time for initial cuts.

Ok boys I will probably reference the 500p quite a bit so if there's any questions just holar. Here's the muffler mod. I pulled the restrictive tube out and opened up the front of the factory deflector and then added a second port. It has the same style muffler as a 500P

Remember at this point this saw has about 10 cuts on it. Not even broke in. The 500P took about 5 tanks to come around. But non broke in. I grabbed about 20% omnjust a muffler mod.

Change number one over the 490/500. No more removable transfer covers.

Change 2. No more funky intake. Just a nice oval normal intake.

Now let's get into some numbers. These are just eyeball numbers taken with a flashlight to give me a base line. much better starting point to this saw. Comp after 20 cut 160. Squish however is huge. Was hard to get a good measurement. .062". I twisted 5 pieces of solder together to get that so not real accurate. But we'll keep track of actual as I cut the base.

Much better starting numbers. The secondaries remain super steep dumping into the cylinder mains are pretty flat.

The piston is domed. But that said it starts flat then leads into a dome. Hope ya can see that on the pics.

I am liking what I see compared to the 500p.

It's a dual ring piston. The marks on the piston are the width and where the bottom of the port hit at TDC. As you can see lots of room to drop the cylinder per the piston.

Is the machined part of the piston on a taper/angle? is it windowed too?

Transfers outlets are real similar to the 590, except the stagger.

I'll chuck it up and see but it looks pretty flat then takes off into a dome.

What's your game plan for rd 1?

Not sure yet. I'm thinking just set the squish with a base cut and throw it back together for short term. Until I can pick up a second one. I posted one saw for sale tonight. Will post a couple more. If just one sells I will buy another one of these. As I see a lot of potential here but initial thought Is .050 off base. 108/128-130/where ever intake lands.
