Recently picked up an Echo 302. It runs fine but doesn't pump oil. I have the oil pump out and nothing looks out of the norm. If the tank is full and the pump is out shldnt oil leak out of the flow hole to the pump? Not sure if the pump isn't pumping or if there is a blockage of sorts somewhere. I was running it and adjusting the pump but no oil is flowing. Maybe I need to open it up even further.

Take the filter out of the tank and clean it. Blow a little air back through the line into the tank. Then drain the tank and fill it with kerosene or equivalent and see if it will pump that. Echo saws of that era pump oil like crazy so something must be plugged up.

Filter you say. I did not see a hose nor a filter. That makes sense. I will look into this, this evening. Do they have a hose or just a filter?

I just had the same problem with one. It turned out the oil hose was missing in action. It takes a right large hose if I remember correctly. I made one and had a heck of a time trying to get it on with a pair of hemostats. The IPL is available online. It was actually helpful too...

Should be a hose with a filter on the end. If it's in the bottom of the tank they wont suck oil

Thanks that makes perfect sense. Ill look for it and I am sure its laying in the bottom of the tank. Should be a fun challenge to get back on.

I had one that the duel and oil line went to goo. It was a pain the clean.

I doubt that you put it back on. I think you will most likely be replacing it. From the ones I have seen, if it fell off, there is no putting it back on...

I found no hose or filter. Previous owner must have removed it and the reason for scrapping the saw. I cleaned it up with mineral spirits and only got a few pieces out.
Now the tricky part is getting the new line on. I found a new Stihl 041/051 oil line with the filter end enclosed with filter fits fine. I am not positive it will reach the depths of the oil reservoir but it will work. You will defiantly need a pair of angled pliers and a good little light while standing on your head and you better hope the earths axis is tilted just right.

I didn't like the depth of the hose in the tank. I decided to change it. Do you think I can get another hose on that hidden brass nipple? Simple answer is NO!!!!!!

IIRC, I used a larger piece of Tygon onto the fitting in the tank. I then coupled a smaller piece of Tygon using a barbed brass reducer to accept the pickup screen.

Those pumps were essentially the same design all the way up to the 1001. I've got the pump specs somewhere. 302 ought to slobber all over a 28" bar if it had to.

Gotta love 302s, one of Echo's best efforts.
