Way oil ............... Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer, straight. Glides like its on glass

All of the other oil areas, except the gears get Royal Purple 0W-20 synthetic oil

Check this guy out when you run out of liquid wrench. He buys large quantities and breaks them down, keeps the price low. Mobil velocite is what sb calls for on spindle oil, but that liquid wrench may be just fine (as it is non detergent).

IMHO, yes ......unless you are just going to use it for that one cylinder, thats if it will clear the carriage as it spins

In the hangar we have an ancient LeBlonde 19. Weighs about 6000 lbs. Have to use a shop crane to change the chucks. If we ever have a tornado, I'm hanging on to that.

Have you ever used marvel mystery oil or a 50/50 mix of wd40/atf for lathe work ?

I use straight wd40 on aluminum and rigid cutting oil on all others

I quit using oil unless I'm removing a lot of material. Less mess.

What kind of spindle oil are you using in your south bend? How about way oil?
