I know everyone like reading and looking at saws come back to life. “Old Dirty Feta” inspired me to get my box of 9000/9010 out this weekend.

This build is all my 1/2 janky but still very useable parts that I built into a “red headed, beater” saw.

The starts... an old Dolmar 9000 chassis

Grungy as hell!

Looking at the carbs a bit in comparison to one I found in the 143mx series box... [emoji48]

OEM 9000 Bing vs Tilly HS

The HS appears to have been modified at some point... don’t know by who or how well it was done..???

Choke was removed and epoxied and the throat was hogged out. Fuel intake changed as well too.

Can anyone tell me the oem flow numbers for the Bing vs HS? If stock are they an improvement?

HS 13607 (maybe?)

Been wanting to look into a more cost effective ignition replacement... $200+ for oem 9010 Ignition’s is a little ridiculous for a “beater saw”. Looking for readily available AM coil conversion.

Looking left to right coils are : 272xp, 066, 9000... going to be a steep learning curve here... first time I’ve messed with cross brand swaps. Help if you’re able!?!?

Am I wrong to think as long as I can bolt it down, gap it correctly, and re-clock the 9000 flywheel... that I should produce spark to make it run??? Novice here so again... help!?!?

Just a few I had laying around... seems like the wiring and size of the 066 ign could be made to fit...???

Try the 272 upside down with a longer wire.

Try the 272 upside down with a longer wire.

272 wont work. The lams aren’t long enough to reach the screws and the wire would have to wrap all the way around. There isn’t a good place to drill and tap a 3rd location either... case to thin in all other areas.

066 seems to be a better place to start

That 9000 looks like someone was cutting railroad ties with it.

The 9000 ignition looks like CDIC 066 ignition to me.

The HS136 was also used on the Husky 2100? So it may have
been modified for that application.

Agreed that it looks like the bigger 066 coils.

The HS came off a used 133/143 dolmar chassis... so don’t know who was trying to do what... would be interested to see if it works.

Hint: the carb question isn’t for this 9000/9010... there may be another saw hiding... [emoji16]

The coil wire would have to wrap around, same way on the solo’s.
All you would have to do is make a mounting plate bolted to the case and a pattern to fit the 272

I PMed @166 that a muffler and bucking spikes were needed; pretty sure he had a semi rough muffler last time I asked. Time to call it a night and shelve it for another night. It’s tucked in with its brothers and cousins.

No ignition on it yet but all the rough work is done. No too bad for an Ugly Betty saw...

That full wrap looks oddly familiar... hmm...

116 is a coil or carb... sorry not that familiar with 394/5 series... I differ to Carr on those usually.

WJ-116 is a 395 carb. They are really similar to the 9010 carbs. The throttle linkage is slightly different for the different cable pull angle.
