They've been red here long enough that I got this one off Craigslist for $25. Was missing clutch cover, recoil, and had scored cylinder. Threw original top end from my first 6401 on it, carb kit, side covers from another red makita parts saw with blown crank I found and it runs like a champ. Salvage for parts only... silly people. All it needed was a new top end and to be tuned before it was robbed of parts.

I think the workers in Hamburg won’t put a Makita sticker on anything red in Europe , only blue equipment gets the M word

I think another issue they are gonna run in to here, at least in the UK and Europe far as I know, is the red line of electric Makita products are known as their affordable products. I could see Makita themselves second thinking that.

Well I decided to do just that, it’s now about 3 seconds faster and feels like it picked up a bit of torque.
How much work is done to that jug? Just curious.

I have a 6401 jug x2 somewhere. The 8400 is lacking but a cure might be coming for this one. Trying something on a 56mm bb 1122 first. Then try it out on the smurf.

Bone stock jug, just gutted the muffler and took the cat out. Timing advanced a bit.

Yours runs good. Can I get the timing numbers please. My interests are for milling saws. Low heat all grunt.
I'm undecided about which divider to chop out of the transfers on a 6401 jug. Hung a 28 total on that chassie. The 8400 coming back off soon. Swap it to the other brother Darrel.
