Well it’s been a while since I ran the ported redtop 7900 in the big test log since I made some changes to it. Cut the very last cookie this log had in it, about 1/4” to cut lol. 32” full comp.
48.96 seconds. Not apples to apples, but it’s definitely faster than the over 58 seconds cut I managed to get earlier in the year with a slightly different setup.
Might be able to get a little more out of it with a different carb but I’m happy with the power it has... for now. Lol

Can someone help me fitting a 272 coil. Can’t seem to juggle the wires in. Have I got the right coil? Do I need to pull through some more wire?
Thanks in advance

You’ll need a longer plug wire than stock. Fit the coil first, then route your wire and cut to length.

Also, you won’t be using the flywheel key. Timing is way different

So the flywheel "floats"? Just pressed on?

Oh. I didn't realize that Keith. TY for the info...
I'm just a saw user. Able to do routine maintenance and stuff.
But I always am open to learn...[emoji106]

Thanks for the info.
Does the wire still need to go under the coil in the same way, just carry on up and over? What do you do about the 90° bend into the coil?
Sorry for being simple, but electrics are not my thing, what type/ gauge wire will I need?

I have the diagram for flywheel set up. The key has sheared off mine so thought might as well do the 272 coil mod, starting to wonder if it’s worth the effort [emoji849]
