Speaking about gaskets, anyone who has oem tickness for 346, 357, 372 and 262?

Have read cylinder gasket on 372 is about .020" +- a few thousandths... This should be take with a grain of salt. Surely someone in the know will chime in.

What do you use to cut the tin and keep nice clean edges?

Brand new razor blade, xacto, etc. Outside edges I used a set of shears/scissors, no typical aviation snips will work, they displace the metal too much.

I cut the middle out first, then holes, then the outside. I think I used a 556 case to cut the holes, chamfer the case mouth sharp, and used it as a punch.

These were my grandfathers

I've got a pair of Malco shears that are about like heavy duty scissors .They cut cans pretty crispy with smooth edges .I'll snap a pic sometime .However because they are so large they would not be good for such small work I don't think .I use cans to make gaskets for the outside of some bars to keep the oil from squirting out straight through some of them to keep the oil in the bar rather than dribbling down the side .Some Mac bars are bad for that .

On a related topic, does anyone have a good source for the reinforced diaphragm material for carburetors? I would like to find some of the Mylar/Teflon material to have some fuel pump diaphragms made.

Thanks,

I use a pair of bell ringers scissors made by Klein tools.
Telephone guys used them back when phones were connected to wires.
They are about 5" long and strong enough to cut a penny and still cut thin material cleanly.
Designed for thin copper wire and phone cable they are perfect for thin metal.
Mine are 30 years old and still work well.

I have at least 10 pairs of good general purpose and cloth scissors laying around the Drycleaners and even the expensive scissors will not cut or last cutting thin metal like the little Kleins.

Just ordered some gasket material - Fel-Pro 3011 - it's fuel and oil resistant, .015" or 1/64" thick, and it's a 36" x 36" sheet. $8 from Amazom or Summit Racing. Should make good gaskets for case halves.

Here's a scan of a Jonsered 2094/2095 case gasket - you guys may be able to use this with a printer and print directly on to gasket paper. I'll
be uploading other NLA Jonsered case gaskets here soon.

Any older stuff? I have a Jonsereds 110 that I'm about to go through.

Thanks
