Dan’s 024/6 Hybrid

Doing a mini Hybrid Build for @paragonbuilder.

The basis of my 026 builds was conceived by @tree monkey, so I will give credit where it’s due.

Anyhow, the donor saw is a clean West German 024 Super.

I cut the dome off of 026 Meteors for my builds. .045 to be exact. The band is cut flat, which allows me to grab a 105* exhaust roof with most jugs.

This is a real time build, so please be patient.

To make a 44mm 026 jug fit under the hood of an 024, some fin work needs to be done.

I used the ultimate chainsaw porting tool, because after all, it needs to be good enough for who it’s for.

This is a clay imprint of the ex opening in the plating. It’s closer in the pic, so it appears larger than it is.

I don’t open the outer much, as it’s already much bigger than the inlet already.

The geometry of the ex port is part of the reason an 026 can’t hold its own in racing vs a 346.

This is a worksaw, and I’d pick a Stihl 1121 every time to cut firewood with.

I've seen quite a few 1121 series mufflers. The baffled ones are fascinating to me. I have drilled a grid in the front of the baffle before.
I do like the ones without the baffle, but I'm sure my experience is not as advanced -- I am not a porter.
