I have had good luck with alumiweld rods. It more of brazing stick, but I used it to fix a cracked aluminum lid on a Weber grill.
Just get the part hot in the oven first then use a mapp gas torch and it goes on like solder and flows well. It’s pretty strong. It held the grill lid together fine.
Harbor freight has it

I welded my John boat back together with those and an oxy/acetylene torch. It worked, but was hard on thinner aluminum.

I want to weld this so it doesn’t break off. I have a stick welder. Can I make it work?

No WAY

Boy that looks familiar
Indeed

Man, I don't know. I haven't stick welded cast aluminum. Only sheet. I welded a Dutch oven a couple years back and I just stuck it in the oven on self clean setting, high heat for a while and managed to weld it without it cracking.
I've given a few Dutch ovens before, NEVER came out that good

Doubtfull

I gave the wife a Dutch oven this morning.
What'd she say ?

I wasn’t sure the aluminum foil would work, maybe it was the coat hanger that helped conduct electricity
No way, it was definately that foil
