I've been playing around with pulling some junk cranks apart and the hole of the FW side where the pin presses in seems to have some sort of super high temp high strength braze. Or am I imagining things?

Pulled a few junk 066 and 046 cranks apart and noticed that it seems to be the main thing that keeps it snug, and it's tough stuff! Really well adhered

Heating that whole area enough to braze the pin in would really mess with the hardening of the pin.
All the three piece saw cranks I've disassembled are just an interference/press fit.
People do weld them to insure they don't clock out but that's usually a few small tacks with tig/mig.

I'll have to get a pic of this 046 crank half I'm talking about. I always assumed for the same reasons you explained as to why they wouldn't.

I believe it’s just an interference fit, could be wrong though,

This is a 461 crank8A456D4A-4B05-44C5-93DC-AC9D024C9665.jpegED9E2143-BAC8-4874-B2AF-F8E57336D68A.jpeg
It doesn’t look like they did anything extra besides an interference fit

On the very outer edge you can just barely see it

Looks like corrosion?

I'll have to see if I can get a better pic although I won't rule out corrosion.

The only other thing that would seem logical to me is that it's possibly hundreds of hours of the slightest gap building up half burnt oil.

Interesting read but after monkeying with it some more after orginally not touching it until I figured out what it was. I wiped it off with my finger, just half burnt oil

So in conclusion it's press fit, which makes my life much more simple.
