I haven't been around in a while. I was kind of laid low for a while, but now I have a ton of work to catch up on.

I have to take down two chinese sumac ( tree of heaven, ailanthus altissima ). They are on my property in the City. The wood cannot be removed from this area. The trees are ~24" diameter.

I am thinking of installing a wood stove in the carriage shed so that I can work out there through the winter. I expect there to be a substantial amount of wood from these trees. Has anyone used this wood for firewood? Is there any problem with burning it?

I got a few big rounds from a tree removal at work one time. It was about the worst gopher wood I've ever burned. Like burning straw or something.

It splits easily and dries rather fast. Practically no bark to mess with. I do know that 132 lb of it will produce a million BTUs when burned. Never heard if any problems burning it as long as you let it dry.
