660 oiler is the weak spot. AV can be annoying after quite a few slabs. 7900 in 18" ash was faster than the 395. 7900 was stock so I can't say it was the porting. It has a long stroke for a modern 70cc. Oiler worked fine on 34" bar in 18" of ash. I never milled with a full 27" width on my 30" mill. I use an aux oiler for anything but a 395 at 36" plus.

Good enough for me Dave. If you say I'm good, I'm good.
That 6400 will wear a 20 or 24" to beam cut.
The BB one will get some porting/tweaking to do the medium duty work with a 28" or 32" I guess. If it burns down, to bad hu. Then Ill get 7900, 7910 or 7300 top. The Os might be better than the tens in this application. Does the early jug have a larger exhaust port and casting area?

One stock 660's is rigged with a 40 roller. No aux oil, yet.
One is not set up yet.
Can a better pump and/or gear be bought or is it time to make one mo betta? Rarley run bars bigger than 28. Have a 36" 3/8 050. Never used it. Just got a tip for it. Needs a hammering in just a few spots. Good rails with little wear. All beat up fat nose tip from boring.

A twin head bar in 44-52 would sweet.

Not planning to push or pull any of the big saws 80cc and up for more than testing single cuts. A yoke will be built with a mini winch to pull saws. Won't matter how the log lies. Add weight if needed.

The reality is that 40 is 37 with big Stihl OEM spikes.
Just call it a 36" mill cut. The 36 cuts 32 and so on.

Anyone have pics of homemade slides to ride the face edge?

You'll be lucky to get that with a clamp style mill. You loose 4" having to clamp back off the tip and another 2-3" clamping away from the power head even without spikes.

My custom mill bolted through the tip center and as tight to a 395 power head without spikes on for 36" bar gets 32" of cut.

Mine should look very familiar to you. I can't recall the guys name from AS I bought off but he said he got it from you. It's a Panther.

There is a reality check.
Thank You again.

Hoping to mount the tail slide up tight near the oil tank. Using the slide for my rear mount. Ill weld or braze it to the bar. Could be bolted.
My tip is not removable or replaceable. Internal bearing welded in
It might be more user friendly on a home made rig. I'm not sure how well that would shake out. Aluminum for mobility weight savings but it might not be worth it on the home made route.

Definitely building my own beam tool to fit the Dolkitas.

Yeah, I recall it will mill about 34" wide slabs. The bar is a 44" GB bar that was converted from .404 to 3/8 roller tip.
Better eat your wheaties.

I'm not exactly sure how the adjustable shoe works. Maybe @srcarr52 knows.

.050" sucked for me in 36" on a mill. Not sure if it was just the GB bar or not. I switched to 063" bars in 34" and 50" and they oiled better and didn't get the groove as gunked up.

8400 Dolkita have good power at least the one I had around and used some. My 30" mill needs a 34" bar to max it out at 27" of cut with spikes one.

Did your 050 36 have a second oil feed?

I have 063 in 404 28 and 40. 24 is next.
Setting up 3/8 063's now. Thinking 24 28 36

What iss your thoughts on a 28 325 063?

Just opened up port and no aux. I figured a 390 in 24" of wood would do fine. They had done fine with 34" bars in 063. I've never tried 325. I don't run it on baby saws normally
