Too late. They are.

My Saw is a DQ from beginning. It's got OEM:

Crank
Dominant ceramic bearings
Pin bearing
Meteor piston and jug
Flywheel
Coil and lead
Boot/clamp/carb
Fuel line and filter
Crank sleeve/spacer
Oil pump and worm gear
On/off control switch and lever
Entire brake assembly exc handle
Exhaust gasket
Badges
Clutch cover
Air filter
Clutch/Drum/washer/Clip
Starter center/pawls/new elastostart
And recently impulse line

Easier to list what's still am

And that stupid ass impulse barb is causing all the problems. It's nuts.
How much $ do you think you have in her all together if you don’t mind me asking?

My carb is a new HD50 as well.

My bet is $500 all in. Makes no sense, as I coulda bought a clean OEM for around the same amount. Once the impulse line issue is over, the Saw should run just fine.

One point i found very interesting, and part of why I lost so badly last year at the gtg with the 660 kits. My 660 wouldn't lean out, even with the carb H needle closed.

I had to drill my carb jet at home to get enough fuel. I'm at 150' ASL. Ran Saw at 70* F temp.

At Randy's, which I'm told was ~2500' ASL, my Saw was too fat with the H needle fully closed. It was around 88* and fairly humid. I swapped in a new HD14 and was able to tune Saw again normally.

I would never think 2000' of elevation would make that much difference.

The elevation difference was a big bugaboo for tuning that I didn’t really compensate for.
The 661 was dialed in for big fun at @700’ back home but was a total schizophrenic at Randys to the point that after messing with it for a good hour, Joey and I gave up.
Als new version 026 that was a contender back home ran like it had an air leak and I didn’t even consider it might have been elevation, so i put it away too.
I wanna blame my poor showing in the bracket racing on elevation but i think realistically i had a day full of suckitude LOL.
I still need lots of practice, practice, practice.

Elevation does make a difference. My upstate property is about 2,000 feet. Really messed with the 026 first time I brought it up there!

Al, put a #8 SAE washer between the impulse line and the case.

If you are sick of working on it, I'll pick it up and do it for you.

I know you are a far better saw builder than I am, but I can do this stuff, and you have a lot less time than me.

I completely agree with @drf256 the kit saws just don't make sense to me, the juice just isn't worth the squeeze, I keep saying it, buy a oem project saw and build it, then you know what you got, just my 2 cents.

For one saw, I completely agree with you, and if Al/Dan did not ID the impulse line problem … I may have gone bald by now.

But I think I have a pretty good handle on their problems now, and I'm looking forward to doing more of them.

They can be made to run right. Cut this with 2 Asian Hybrids, the one Dr Al did for me, and one I did myself with the HL Supply jug.

I was working alone and had to use the Timberjack a lot, so both saws were re started often, w/o a single hitch.

Nice Mike. Longevity is still going to have to be determined on these Chinese clones. Short time, part time usage is no litmus test at all.
Time will tell.

I can understand why, these things are a PITA, but I think most issues have now been IDed and resolved. I'm sick and tired of taking them apart again and again, but they seem to be worked out now. If you do one, you better enjoy the challenge!
