This used to be a good one, hasn't been used in many years. My grandmother had it way before my day, She was born back in the 1880's. She did some awesome fried chicken in it back when I was a wee boy. ( early 60's ) I don't see a name on it anywhere that I can see. She used it on a old home comfort wood stove.

I could do that, but we have never used it on a electric stove before. The old wood stove was taken out many years ago. I guess it will work on a 10" electric eye.

Note the # 12 on the bottom. Can you tell anything from that?

They calling that a 12 inch pan is what the 12 is all about. Don’t be skeered. I use my old cast on electric all the time. I also use mine on convection which is some sort of magnetized heat. Yeah it doesn’t bother cast any. On convection it will cause a rust ring on the bottom using it daily Once a month or so I repel the bottom. Cast is rugged stuff. It’s hard to ever hurt it

“In fact, these numbers instead indicate a size of old-time stove burners”

Ole pans were designed to sit in the eye of the burner on old wood cooking stoves

It is not about the width of a Pan, but it is close at times.
The heat ring was

Didn’t know that. In that case I’d call @amberg s pan a 13.5 inch pan. For use on a number 12 burner. Would that then be correct?

Maybe these pics. will help. I do think I will coat it with some bacon grease and season it again. Lot of good food came out of that skillet.
