I have taken the carb off my 026 3 times now and blew carb cleaner through every passage and it still has a bog ,it would not start at all when i began ,so there was improvement ,how many times do you guys pull the carb off before give up and chuck it into the woods and buy a new one ,a new one was 40 bucks ,and i had about an hours time and a can of cleaner before i gave up and ordered one .

I don't use carburetor cleaner or forced air on any small 2 or 4 cycle carburetors. I use my Kendall 6 liter ultrasonic cleaner with water and basic Dawn Ultra dish soap. There are times I do reach 12.5 pH soap but many times. I also use a heated solution sometime. As you said you got weigh the labor vs replacement costs when deciding when to give and buy new.

What carb is it? WT 194 or WT403A?
Did you try a rebuild kit? Very easy to rebuild.

Does it have the H and L screws? Rebuild it and keep it for an extra.

Lol. Just saying, are you sure it is the carb and not something else? Maybe a fuel line?

Maybe the vent is bad? Probably the carb though.

It acted the same last time ,all the saws i left mobil 1 in over several months gummed up the carbs from sitting ,i only use the little saw for carpentry work so it does not get used a whole lot .

I've taken 'em off multiple times before, usually wont replace the whole unit unless the carburetor body is defective. With the issue you seem to be having, I would think that the welch plug should be pulled and the idle circuit passages checked as well as the high circuit. Sometimes it takes a tiny wire to rod them out, or forced air through individual passage with a rubber tipped blow gun to get the more stubborn ones cleared. With the straw on the carb clean nozzle, can be stuck in the adjustment screw hole to visually see spray coming through.
Good luck getting it going again.

The problem cleaning carb without a US cleaner is you can often see the dirt and grime but some of the gum caused by oil/fuel additives are hard to see and difficult to dislodge with just carb cleaner and compressed air. US cleaners are great for this reason.

I feel your pain!

I just about rebuild all carbs I take off. I had one I just couldn't get it right........ Wasted a lot of time because I took it personally!
I saved it and someday I'll get a US cleaner and throw it in.

UC = Ultrasonic cleaner
