Went for a ride yesterday to check out the water levels on my local streams as trout season opens today. While I was out and about, I drive by my bosses (cousin) sugar shack that I helped design and drew shop drawings for. I saw the steam rising so decided to stop in and take some pics for you guys. I know we all like pics.

They say Fifteen pound limit huh...
Swinging the fly rod will be good therapy the best I say...

All the timber was milled on his fathers mill, 1/2 mile down the road.
I detailed (shop drawings) all the mortise and tenon joints at all the connection points.

Nearest steelie river is a 5hr trip for me. That won’t be happening unfortunately.
Nearest trout stream is 15min

They made 100 gal of syrup yesterday AM in a few hours. Takes about 40gal of sap to make 1gal of syrup. This evaporator can burn off 500 gal/hr. Started at 6:00 and done by 2:00.
At $42/gal, not a bad way to make $4,200 on a Saturday

I’m a draftsman.

My boss and his brother started a lumber yard some 20-25 yrs ago. He then expanded and bought some property across the road. He turned that into a curtain wall/storefront business. 95% of our aluminum curtain wall business is shipped to NYC.....that’s where the $ is at. If your not familiar with curtain wall or storefront......check this out. I created shop drawings for this tilted wall assembly.

Wow. Awesome. Finishing up sugaring season here -- we have a post and beam shack and CDL boiler that is wood fired. Over the last 10 years it's partially responsible for me getting into saws.
