The locating pins on the piston on my husqvarna 2100 are on the exhaust side and I could only widen the port to about 62.5% of the bore if leaving 0,5 mm (0.02") on both sides.
Is there any special reason not to flip the piston 180 degrees, from what I could see they clear the intake port and should clear the transferes.
I tried googling it but couldn't find anything.

ive not heard of it done on a 2100, but pretty common for guys working on stihls to put piston in backwards.

As long as you're sure the ring ends clear I can't see any reason why not.
It's pretty common practice with other saws to go from intake side to exhaust when adding finger ports.

Never knew 2100’s ran the pins on exhaust side. Actually I don’t think I’ve ever seen pins on exhaust side... stock anyway

I've seen the bottom ring pin on the left exhaust side on some newer Stihls, but never both. Never seen it on a husky.

Couple scenarios. Either the piston was installed backwards by mistake, or maybe a previous cylinder was ported with fingers so it had to be flipped, and when someone replaced the cylinder with a stock one they didn't flip the piston back

Thanks for all the answers!
@Stump Shot Thats what mine looks like one locating pin on either side of the port, my oem piston was pretty badly scored so I bought one from hl supply, think it was a meteor and I bought new caber rings.

Will have a good look at the transferes so they wont interfere.
