I have to weigh in here. I have ported a lot of cylinders and bevel the exhaust a lot. However I never bevel the sides. The rings are pushing out against the walls of the cylinder. They are supposed to. If you bevel the outsides of the port it gives something for the ring to jump into that gap. Once it expands then it has trouble getting back again into the port. That is why the edges of the rings, got worn and why the middle got broken. That is where the interference was but not the exact location where the problem was located.
