sorry. i'm getting old and forgetful. it is oe stihl, not new, tho. no scoring on skirt at all. dunno why it's not in a saw, unless came from mag conversion. got w/some other parts from someone here. left it out. can get pics tomorrow if yer interested.

I remember that piston. That piston came out of a crush victim. The cylinder had a corner broke off of the base.

You say mag or super piston? I am after a Super piston

It’s at a financial hard stop atm. Lol. Although for the second case I am trying out 2k aerosol in RAL colour 7035. This way it should be pretty much fuel resistant etc.. just gotta sell a few saws to start funding this one again. I started to loose love for it then realised that I was being daft..

This is STILL the cost of getting it done, everything will be OEM apart from the top covers, recoil and tank assembly..

All in all full build will be sub £250 with all new 20" rollematic bar and chain, bearings, seals lines, genuine carb kit etc..

Guys I'm back on the 038 steam train.. I bought £144 of OEM bits to finish the Super (bar, chain, bar studs, intake clamp, piston, RAl 7035 2k paint, flywheel and upper annular buffer)

@rocketnorton I am truly sorry but I got in touch with the Greek and got an Episan Piston Kit with cabers and new Episan pin and clips. It was £22. I hedged my bets that the postage would kick me in the face from the US and I needed the pin and clips, Thank you for the pictures though and I hope I did't waste your time.

no sorrys needed. pin, bearing, one clip in this one. got almost nuff chit for nother 038, ex p/c. got that s piston, m jug.

What was the cost of that chain,,,, I know stihl cost more than some other brands like Oregon.

Are you a brand favourite only type guy, in chains and/or bars ?.

Not brand favourite just choose Oregon or Stihl. Stihl are defs better on the chains. And bars if you go power match with Oregon are good. If not then Stihl feel better and smoother and last longer. The chain is a chisel 20” 3/8” it was £20

Kind of odd about the 038 series .I've seen more Mags than av's and only two supers I remember of .Probably depends on what part of the world you are in as to popularity .

Finding mags in the uk is hard as. My two mags are both av’s converted. One has a mag oem on it, the other a hyway top end. This super has an oem cylinder and soon to be an episan piston. Considering there are shed loads of 038’s in the uk most are supers. Spare cylinders are like gold dust. IMO..
