A buddy calls me up and says "hey you want to go cut some wood" me thinking some firewood eagerly Sure.
Buddy "good, because my cousin has this tree he needs cut down"
Me needs cut down? Tell me about this tree?
Buddy " well it is a cotton wood"
Me mhhm go on
Buddy " Well it is at least 40 in my cousin can't judge very well. "
Me ok is the tree dead, alive, where is it ect.

By now I know this is not a firewood trip. This is going to be some screwed up tree removal expedition.
Buddy" well it is dead, and by the house and leaning"
Me great! What way is it leaning
Buddy " I don't know"
Me how close to the house?
Buddy " I don't know "
Me well Bill wtf do you know?
Buddy " I told him we will be there at 10 am. I will pick you up.

Soooooo.....
I am now waiting for my buddy knowing this is probably a very bad idea and realize I may have to walk home when I tell everyone my saws and I are not going anywhere near that mess.
Idk maybe it won't be that bad but I am a cautious person and BUDDIES ARE FROM THE DEVIL!

My neighbor had a big dead tree fall in her yard. About 3' at the base. Her yard guy showed up to cut and pull it out with his jeep and tiny saw. MS170 or 180 with a dull ass chain.
I really wanted to offer help, but it was covered in dirt and poison vine. Being a fence line tree I'm sure it is full of wire, nails and whatever that would junk a chain. Sometimes you just have to sit back and watch.
Yes, most of the tree is still in her yard.

Hmmm. Doesn't sound good. Personally, I don't do trees around structures, fences or power lines.
Yup i agree. I just turned down two about 30" round walnut treed strait as an arrow. They were too close to fence and house. sure would be nice lumber but my chubby but dont climb trees to limb them.

I climb, but I've turned down several jobs that I just didn't feel comfortable with. Never be afraid to walk away if it doesn't feel right.

Great news! I am still alive!
Oh and so is my buddy.
Well both where on the edge of a field with nothing around. Both where leaders. One was leaning pretty good.
Both where huge.
Double cuts with a 36c bar.
Now I have coffee to roast. Lol
My 10 year old tried taking some photos and videos but I am out of Internet so can not upload them tell next month.

Looks like the Dolmar is sitting watching the action. LoL!
Well how else am I supposed to keep it shiny and Purdy?
The 056 ran out of gas while felling the second tree and I finished it with the Dolmar.
It sure doesn't take long to learn to have good equipment.
I just wish I could replace the 056 for something smoother. She sure does cut great. But man my hand still have a numbing ache. Darn arthritis and car-pol-tunnel.

I know what you mean about the hands. The Dolmar should be real smooth right?
