KS has got some nice bucks too. Went there hunting with some guys from Bowhunter Magazine about 3 years ago. Chipper Jones from the Atlanta Braves was there too. Shot a 150 class deer there and when I put my bow down an even bigger one was standing broadside at 10 yards. Just shook my head. They dont get big enough or old enough in my neck of the woods to even compare to those deer.

I'm getting into bow hunting this year for whitetail. What are some tips?

Practice, practice, practice. If your not proficient with a bow lots of practice. You owe it to the animal your trying to harvest. If hunting from a tree stand practice from a tree stand. Big doe are harder to get then bucks in my opinion. Find the does and hunt the rut and the bucks will come.
So many variables to bow hunting such as having a tuned bow, right arrows, etc
It took me years to harvest my first deer with a bow. Let a lone a big deer buck or doe. Learn from mistakes and try not to overhunt an area. I have some spots I only hunt during peak rut.
And have fun. Good luck

Be patient if you dont have a clean shot don't take it. Shot placement is key you don't want just one air bag you want both.A deer with one lung and a liver taken out can go far so be patient after the shot as well. Never force anything. Think about it while walking out don't force yourself through the woods to your spot. Experience is the best teacher.

Make a good, no great bow. Others do as well but I like the riser design and the grip is just right. Also it balances well.

So I just found this thread I'm an avid bow Hunter I love bow hunting even more than cutting trees. I really love cutting trees. Had a pretty good season last yr shot 8 deer. Counting the days till September first. I have two mathews monsters both 29" 80lbs shooting 420 grains at over 345 fps. I want a carbon defiant turbo due to the fact the riser is warm to the touch on those sub zero temp days. Congrats to all those who shot some really good buck last season nothing like coming to full draw and he has no clue he is about to paint the ground red :)

I picked up a new climber was looking at getting a summit specialist sd this one is the same other than the seat. All the same dimensions.Scored it off Ebay for under 200.Weighs 14lbs alot lighter than my old Bullet backpacker.

First thing I did was get rid of the seat and put on a hazmore silent seat.

After bow hunting for only 2 years after 25 years of rifle hunting my biggest tip is to shoot your bow in from up in your stand. It's a big deal.

Second is to do your preseason homework. It matters a lot more when you can only shoot a third as far.

DON'T TAKE ANYTHING BUT A PERFECT SHOT! It is WAY better to go home after passing on a shot than taking a marginal shota and having to track and/or lose a wounded deer. Unfortunately, I only learned this lesson from experience.
