new chainsaw and new try at page 3

Hello,
I am Stefan from Germany and since last year I am working a little at my garden with some chinese chainsaw models.
Actual I own three, an Einhell RBK4645 with 45cc and 2,7 hp @ 38cm / semi-chisel

a Bituxx MS-12226-58 with 58cc and 3,6 hp @ 45cm semi-chisel

and a Demon CS-65T with 65cc and 4,35 hp @ 45cm Stihl RS full chisel
phoca_thumb_l_06.04._Heckensaegen-Massaker_Demon_CS-65T_Einsatz_53.jpg

All are based on the same basis, the Komatsu Zenoah G4500 / G5200.

Now I want to play a little with the carburetor.
They all have the same, a clone of the Walbro WT-170 / WT-170-1 I think.

left: clone, right: original

Intake diameter is 19,0 mm
Outtake is 16,0 mm
mounting hole to hole 31,0 mm

Does anybody knows some alternative carb models?

Thank you very much.

Go with the Walbro probably run better ether way. Can't help you much other than that not familiar with that saw.

maybe there is a Walbro with 19 / 19mm or 20/20
But after several time of researching the web I only found the Walbro HDA 246 with 19/19mm which is build into the Komatsu G6200, but it has no connection for a pulse tube

Pulse tubes can be moved around and re-postitioned by drilling and some GB Weld. The biggest issue is getting the fuel curves right.

If someone that has developed the 'feel' could run it, then some simple mods could be made to dial the curves in. On the other hand, you could take the leap and learn a heap about tuning by doing it yourself and 'on the job training'.

A husky 365/372 carb bolts right on. You need to tweak the throttle linkage and impulse line but that's minor.
Get ahold of leafy on this forum, he made a bigger intake to go along with the bigger carb. You can fit the carb on its own but the intake is the same dia as the tiny stock carb so you wont gain anything with just a carb swap.
I copied his work, I bought one intake from him and made another with a plastic tube that's 21mm id.
They gain 2500-3000 rpm in the cut with the upgrade, everyone who runs my saws is impressed with the power they have, they embarrass some 50cc pro saws lol.
Here's a vid of mine cutting.

wow, very impressive!
I know the thread you linked, I've read it a few days before and that's the reason why I started this thread because maybe there is a carb out which fits without modifications.
And if not - I guess I will try the husky 365 carb.

Did you look at the intake?
Its the same inner diameter (its big enough at the carb flange but the part going through the carb holder is tiny) as the stock carb so there's no point in changing one without the other.
The bigger carb also fits better with the shorter intake.

I tried just the bigger intake on my 61.5cc timberpro, it gained 500rpm in the cut. If your only changing one thing make it the intake not the carb.

Ok, so I guess I have to look first where to get such a short intake

I made one, I didn't take any pics of it tho.
I wasn't sure if it would hold up but it did just fine.
To make it I cut the stock intake tube off 3-4mm from the flange then glued a 21mm id plastic tube (the end off a broom handle, with the broom handle as the metal support too)onto the flange over top of the stock cut off part. You have to heat/oval the tube a bit as its not round there. Then you drill/Dremel the carb holder out until the new bigger tube fits. I then cut it off with it sticking out 1-2mm from the carb holder. I put a thin piece of steel pipe in it to support it.
Here's the only pic I have.

thanks a lot, I will try this.
Today I ordered 3 different types of carbs which could fit with a little modification

Just about three weeks of waiting / delivery time and we will see.
In the meantime I will look out for a scrap saw to build up and practice some other tuning before passing over with this to my good saw.

Seeing how they have a carb and intake fit for a 40cc saw putting the right sized one on really helps.
The carb/intake on my 25cc Chinese top handle is almost the same size as what's on these lol.

The 372 carb fits without doing the intake but you don't gain much, maybe a couple hundred rpm and harder starting. From playing around with these saws the carb and intake make a bigger difference than basic porting.

OK I will try it.

And I already have a test candidat. Or better: to choose between three.

no1: build a franken saw out of the leftovers box, some 45cc and some 52cc parts
img_20190923_101325hakxg.jpg

no2: ugly standard 52cc
img_20190923_1014014rklv.jpg

a little bit botched up
img_20190923_1014137ejtn.jpg

img_20190923_10141659ka3.jpg

a russian or poish import I think
img_20190923_101423v0kuh.jpg

or no3: just this body
img_20190923_101525asjvs.jpg

could be a Timberpro with 58cc

I decided to give this "naked" body a chance
timberpro_58_010gjap.jpg

timberpro_58_03lakn4.jpg

timberpro_58_0583j8e.jpg

besides tons of dirt I can't find any damages at the saw
timberpro_58_062gj2g.jpg

timberpro_58_07c2k63.jpg

let's check the piston if that's a 52cc or a 58cc
timberpro_58_08muj2r.jpg

width of the piston is 45,35 (my measuring is not very exact) -> that means 45,2mm
timberpro_58_09anko1.jpg

checking the stroke
timberpro_58_106fjl2.jpg

this should be 34,0mm which means - yes :ARMS1: it's a 58cc. The 52cc have 32mm stroke and 45,0mm piston, the 58cc have 34mm stroke and 45,2mm piston
timberpro_58_11ntkgr.jpg

OK, then the plan is: disassembling, cleaning, change some wear parts, reassambling, try some tuning modifications
timberpro_58_12kjkab.jpg

the oil pump is working but nevertheless I will change it
timberpro_58_13omj1j.jpg

that's it for today
timberpro_58_14hnjdg.jpg

parts to change:
- needle roller bearing
- clutch (will change it to the model with non-integrated sprocket)
- oil Pump
- some of the AVs
- gas tube and impulse tube
- tank gaskets
- muffler gasket
- later on: muffler and carb. But first I want this saw working original for some testing, and then modify

today I had some time to rebuild the chinese chainsaw
timberpro_58_16d1jlc.jpg

new gas tube and impulse tube. If it's a Timberpro / Timbertech: these tubes are some weak spots
timberpro_58_174ej4q.jpg

complete set of gaskets: 1,60USD including shipping
timberpro_58_18qnjnt.jpg

a closer look at the insert: time to change
timberpro_58_19eak8l.jpg

new oilpump and needle bearing
timberpro_58_208mk05.jpg

clutch with the changeable sprocket so you can use 0.325 or 3/8"
timberpro_58_21hpjfq.jpg

nearly the same as at the beginning
timberpro_58_22otkp5.jpg

I changed the small air filter to the big one
timberpro_58_234uj4o.jpg

the brake cover and the starter are missing so I have to use complete new parts.
By the way I changed the chain adjuster from front to side
timberpro_58_249vjb8.jpg

16" bar
timberpro_58_256qjlp.jpg

new bar bolts and nuts
timberpro_58_265tjhk.jpg

that's it. Oh, and the carberator was 5 rounds (8 minutes each) at the ultrasonic bath
timberpro_58_27gyj74.jpg

still ugly but technically almost as good as new
timberpro_58_280wk8b.jpg

unfortunately it's too late to test the saw but maybe tomorrow

Is that a 58?
I like my 58 the best, technically the 62 timberpro is a little faster in big wood but the 58 out revs it in small to medium stuff which is what I cut the most.
I may have goofed up a little porting the 62 and did a better job on the 58, I didn't degree them.

yes I measured the cylinder and it's a 58cc.

When the saw is running I think I will try
- muffler mod (still waiting for the 3-port muffler)
- carb mod (described at the beginning of the thread)
- some porting, but first I have to read a lot more stuff to do this
