Best budget Tachometer

Hi everyone

What would you recommend as a good enough Tachometer
for the saws in my signature.

I have one that has a clip for larger spaces, works on cars etc,
but it is too big to fit in around the cramped cases where saw
plugs and leads reside.
Has anyone altered a large clip type rpm sensor to fit a saw.
Mine is like a rectangle with a slot on the bottom corner that
slides up to allow you to put it over the plug lead.

Or am I better off going with one of those you just point and keep
close to the plug and it reads without contact.

Thanks, john

Thank's to all who posted, I can see there are a few options.
Will read up on them and see what I end up with.

Best economy tach ........ Hardline with a clip on the wire .... pic coming
Hi
The Hardline is the only one I can get over here in my corner of the world.
What is the refresh rate for it, and will it hold the highest RPM measurement.

Thanks for posting.

Tiny tach
Hi, could you tell me what the refresh rate is on the Tiny Tach unit,
and why is there Two cables on it, it states one is for RPM,
and the other is an antane, I do not understand the antane part.
I assume from what the seller states it is .5 sec refresh, just want to be sure.

Here is what the seller has to say.

Tiny-Tach TT2A Hour Meter / Tachometer

Hi
Thanks for posting.
Could I ask why you would not buy this Stihl EDT9, am not at all up on these units,
so have no idea what they can do, just know what I need one to do, and that is measure RPM.

Thanks

All in the thread link. Still slow compared to others. .5 is best, then 1.0 or little quicker then the cheapies at 1.5 sec. Just read the info in link it is all there.

I believe it is 0.5 seconds refresh, it gives run time, rpm, total starts, and highest rpm

I got mine from Electronic Specialties for around $45.00 USD. It reads great with the clip or wireless and does 2 and 4 strokes. The refresh rate isn't that fast but unless you're revving into the ionosphere I don't think that would be a problem.

Hi, If I see correctly, there seems to be Two cables with the above Tachometer,
what are those used for, I see the Hardline has only one.

Thanks for commenting
Shoot if I know man!! Lol! I punch the red button on top to turn it on and hold it close to the plug and she reads quick!!:D When its booting up I see temp. Flashes and a few other readings it does but I only used the rpm section! Guess Ill drag manual out oneday and figure out all it does. Id bet Cutforfun knows all it will do
