Hello lawn care pros,

Just wondering which backpack blowers you guys would recommend to someone who is in the market for one under $500. I am currently looking at the Echo pb770t, and Husqvarna 570bts. I'm looking for a unit that will get the job done a lot faster than my handheld blowers, but not gulp down a ridiculous amount of gas like a Stihl Br800. The dealers in my area carry echo, Shindaiwa, Husqvarna, Stihl, and Redmax.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Wait for black friday deals on a redmax 8500 or Stihl 700 or similar to drop to $500 or less. Of course the leaves won't wait that long.

I don't know. A br700 lasts a good bit, i'd guess a br600 lasts longer. I've always been satisfied by the run time of both, but they are 4 stroke while a 8500 is 2 stroke.

A 700 is a huge step up from a 600, and an 800 an other huge step up.

The would run both the same time or nearly the same time. Operating speed, engine displacement and tank volume are the same. Maybe the BR 700 little bit shorter because of some more air volume, but not much.

A long time, it is Strato-Charged so even at 80cc is pretty fuel miserly.
Cool, I didn't know it was Strato-Charged! But how long is pretty long lol. I have never had a backpack blower, so I don't know how long "pretty long" is for one of them. I am accustomed to about 45 minutes to an hour of runtime on my handheld machines.

I don't know the exact run time but 45 minutes to an hour is my best guess. Admittedly it holds a lot more fuel than a hand held but you will be able to get a lot more done.

I suggest you google the different blowers and compare their specs
You will get the skinny then lol

After owning several Stihl blowers, and others as well, the Husqvarna 570BTS took their hard start problems and blew them away.
It sounds better, starts easier, three pulls in the dead of winter for cleaning of snow covered walks, plus it blows rocks and large sticks. It has not needed anything in the four years I have had it. Bought it lightly used from the looks of it.
570BTS is the best 25lb blower over 700cfm @4hp for tree work in my book.
Redmax 7500 or bigger. And if you do a lot of leaves , 8500. Ran 7100 or 7300 and 8500 on the same place, same day doing clean up. Both were flawless. Most guys I know or knew, dumped their Stihl blowers for Redmax or Husky in recent years.
The new Echos 8010 monster I have not ran.

Stihls were always problems to start, no thanks. Had three....never again!

65-75cc is where it's at imo.
