I had to cut up several illegal guns in my day. Used a chop saw to cut receiver in half. ATF requirements.

Seems to me Benchmade makes a pretty badass knife that can cut through some chit.

What model is it, I feel the need to order one.

This is at a foundry in Rockford. Every so often they bring down a pretty hefty load of guns to be melted. I don’t really see what the fuss is about?

I know I for one wouldn't want something that's done something illegal and stuff.

Now I think it would be cool if they'd let me chuck them in one of those industrial grinder shredder things.

Ha, you can’t get anywhere near them guns. They have heavily armed guards with eyes on em all the way to the cupola.

I only have heartburn with it because it's the equivalent of the LEO's confiscating a perfectly good car from a bad guy...then
Sending it to the crusher.
Then complaining they they dont have money for needed equipment and personnel.
Those firearms are serviceable and completely legal to own in 99.9% of the cases.
I'm sure a local FFL would gladly purchase them at 50% of wholesale.

Court orders them to be destroyed! LE has no choice.

Court orders them to be destroyed! LE has no choice.

The court determines guilt or innocence and doles out punishment.
That often includes property disposition....not disposal.
Cause for Disposal must be proven or petitioned by the CLEO, unsafe or inoperable are the only two qualifying factors in Tennessee.
So ultimately, the court will order destruction, but only if the CLEO tells them they cannot be sold due to unsafe or inoperable status.

Maybe each state is different?
But we can agree to disagree.
I was in LE for 25 years.

They make guns everyday. The guns that we’re destroyed get melted to make something else.
Either way, if ya want a gun just go buy a new or used by a law abiding citizen. I don’t see any shortage of em.

No sir. No shortage. Plenty of good stuff out there.
Only guns destroyed by order of court by us were part of a crime.
Wouldn't look good for someone like us or our family to get hurt or be a victim of gun violence with a gun that was previously used in a crime. Thus the reason why they are ordered to be destroyed.
Probably liability more than anything.

But why did the guy get out of the loader with the forks in the air?

I own several guns and not one time have they snuck out in the middle of night to go rob or kill anyone yet? I may be lucky but will keep an eye on em just in case.
