During the very cold days we had now, my MS 361 was running lean and I had the saw retuned from scratch at my dealer. He hooked it up to the diagnostic software and tuned it completley new. I was able to make pictures from the tuning process. If you want to know more, please read my report.

Awesome work.

Too bad they didn’t have something like this for the civilian world, for us who are “tuning by ear” challenged.

Pretty cool but seems overly complicated. I wonder how far out of spec it was.
Just curious if the air filter was new or used.

I've tried the process in the Stihl repair manual and end up lean every time. So for the time being doing it the old fashioned way that still works for me. Not sure why this is, maybe it's my tachometer, I'm not sure.

Sometimes old school is best. [emoji106]
I bet there were a lot less saws with leaned out pistons way back. With richer fuel mixture and less RPMs, saws probably lasted longer.
Come to think of it now my father blew up a little McCulloch ProMac saw. Lol

The spark plug was white just like out of the box. All the screw in and out stuff just didn't end up at the right spot for some reason. I can see what they were trying to accomplish, getting the relationship between all three adjustments correct.

That process would only be valuable to someone that doesn't really know how to tune a saw.
