30829303-A93E-4189-8907-20D4CBAC167D.jpeg I need some help with this bar, I think it is a Homelite mount, any idea on what size chain to run on it.

It doesn't look like it uses Oregon's current numbering system, but it could be a .325". If it has a sprocket nose pull a chain over the nose by hand. If it doesn't jump cogs it's a match. Check groove width with a feeler gauge.

What's the overall length of the bar? Knowing the overall length should tell which of the numbers corresponds to the number of drive lengths.

A picture of the tail of the bar may help ID the mount. It looks like from the numbers it's an .058 driver/groove width, but the pitch I'm a little curious on.

Some of the more knowledgeable guys will chime in and shed some light.

The groove feels like .050 but that is the only chain I have. .063 .1/2 chain will not fit the groove.

So, it's an Oregon D196 or D096, which are Homelite mounts. With being a hard nose I wouldn't worry so much about the pitch of the chain, as the driver width, which appears is likely .058 or .050.

I figured it was homelite pattern matching it with my othe homelite bars. I was trying to get the driver count in 3/8 to get a chain made no one does it locally so I order from left coast or baileys. I figured someone might have an old Oregon book to decipher the numbers.

My guess its 28" 058gauge in a B1 mount?? Either MAC or Homi. But Jon or JJ will decode that stamped number better than I. It would be a few years old that bar.

28" .050....it appears that you fellas got the mount pretty well sorted.

92dl should work.
Thanks Jon, that is what I needed, I am going to order a chain Tuesday. I need the long bar for a tree job to help a friend.

Do you have any longer loops of 050 chain? Throw a long length around the bar, shoot for six or seven drive links off the tail end, and this should give you an idea of length needed.

No I unfortunately don’t I have down sized in saws and twenty is as big as I have. The twenties and sixteens for my Homelite’s have six drive links off the tail.
