Received a well used Tsumura bar on a new-to-me saw. The 3/8 pitch nose is usable, but has a few chips in the rail - I thought, 'No problem!'. Then I searched Bailey's, eBay, Google, etc. - now I am thinking 'Ruh-Roh!'

What's the story on these? Should be a common item with all of the Total and Tsumura bars out there?

Tsumura P/N 48PV84 3/8 ,050 .058

Thanks!

there should be the correct link.

I will do some digging on it. 48pv84 is a non existent number in my catalog from tilton but i would imagine it supercedes to the 48fv84 though.

Anyone know the difference between the 'PV' and FV' bars?

Philbert

PV part numbered tips are for the large bodied 325 bars and 404 bars.

FV fit all the standard 3/8 050 058 063 bars

SR and ZK tips fit the small profile 325 bars

Philbert, Google 'Suehiroseiko' which is the company name for Tsumura in Japan. Download their catalogue pfd which is about 10 pages that has EVERY product & part no for everything they make. It has diagrams showing RSN designations so you can match the right tip to bar.

If you look closely at the photo in the first post, you can see the tip stamped 'Tsumura P/N 48PV84 3/8 ,050 .058'

The bar itself is stamped 'Tsumura T 26-00' on one side, and 'P/N 407PV4' and 'J20 58 3/8 72E' on the other.

"Thank you for your inquiry.
407PV4 is now changed 407FV4 and replaceable part number is also changed 48PV84⇒48FV84.
You can use 48FV84 instead of 48PV84."

Someone suggested that the difference between the 'P' and 'F' sprocket noses is the number of rivets (6 on 'P' and 4 on 'F') holding the actual sprocket (not the rivets that mount the nose to the bar).

Thank you all for your help.

Remove the space to the right of the unhappy face in the original link and it works.

Old post "BUT" I do not want a 4 rivet sprocket nose (48fv84) for bore cutting they will fit but won't hold up. Is the "48PV84" NLA? If so that sucks.
I will do more looking.
