I started with a couple 050, so I just stuck with it to keep it simple. I have a 36" that's .063 so I can run 3/8 or .404 on by changing the nose
I got that bar cheap. Real cheap. I’d love to have it bored .063. I do have a couple hard nose .063. Just for that purpose. I never change sprockets so it’s a wash sorta.

Get some use with .058 chain till you wear the groove in all places to at least .063, then stick a .063 chain in it and pour oil on it for the first run. Usually sprockets tend to be wide anyway, so it might not need changing.

If you have a used .058 bar you may be able to try a used .063 chain. You should know right away if it will work or not.

Nothing wrong with.058 chain. Not as common here; used on a lot of Husqvana (and family) saws. But if I had a good .058 bar I would consider buying chains to match, until the bar is worn out. Same thing if I scored a deal on a bunch of .058 chains.

Of course. I’ve been emailing Jerry from archer. He has some semi chisel skip in .058. So he says. He is working on a package deal for me to try both the chisel skip and semi chisel skip. In .058 semi chisel skip is near impossible to find. I’ve been looking for a good while. I even started a thread.

He is specially making what I need just waiting to hear back about the semi.

There just isn’t the options in .058. I want the semi to cut stumps low. I don’t want a full comp semi or chisel in those lengths. I’m actually impressed with this guy. Very helpful. Or at least he wants to be. Also mentioned an online store is in the near future

Poking @Wilhelm here, as he was passionately advocating for .058 gauge chain in another thread.

Great that a rep is being so helpful. I thought that most Archer chains were available on eBay from seller 'archerplus'.

That’s him. Jerry he didn’t have what I wanted so I shot him an email.

You guys are EF-n funny.
Many of You have issues with oiling the B&C which tends to be .050", Your solution is to mod the saws pump or go .063".

Just go .058" on everything it is merely 0.1mm narrower than .063" (1.5mm vs. 1.6mm).

You say Your dealer doesn't stock .058"?!
Stop buying .050", keep asking for .058" and watch Your dealer stocking up on what YOU want.

I have one Archer loop, I don't like it as much as Dolmar/Oregon, but it is better than TriLink.

It should take just one .058 chain's life to wear your bar to .063 unless its a really hard well made bar in which case it could take 2-3.

I am running gifted .050" chains in .058" bars that have worn out numerous loops - no issues whatsoever! ;)

A chainsaw is not a space craft, no rocket science to one either.

You guys are really obsessive over stuff that matters little at best. :)

I am running .058" because every saw I bought came set up with it, switching to anything else would be a waste of time and money.
I'll rather spend that time and cash on another saw.

Just run whatever You like the most.
