Don't have too it went up to 16.97 a loop in .50 84dl
Not the bargain it was
Unless you spin your own loops.

Yeah the loops of Archer I ordered last fall when I ordered my saw are a couple of bucks more now, even on eBay

But Oregon loops seemed to go up a couple bucks as well in the same period of time

Narrow kerf or standard .325?

Philbert
Just ordinary 050 gauge. Is that narrow in your book? Not sure.

I file sharpened it today. That's all it needed. I'm taking it back out tomorrow -- same chain, same bar, and same saw. I have no complaints. I have about nine more truckloads to bring in at the same site. Looks like it might be a good spring collection in progress.

As I said earlier, I cut 200o logs with that chain loop -- they averaged about 9" dia. and 18" long. Ten trees went down. Five full truckloads were removed, packed as tight as a sardine can and mounded up.

I love my Husky 353. 'Nuff said.

All I know is my Archer .325 .063 has full size cutters. I don't know if that's because it is .063, but I thought these chains intended for medium saws also had medium sized teeth.

Interesting, the beak

Upon closer inspection the imperfections are clear

An "n" instead of "h" and a theta for "e" :shakehead:

What do You guys expect, cheapness will show somewhere.
And even a cheap product will get more expensive as demand rises.

My one Archer loop says "Arch" in good lettering, but I have seen pictures of Archer chain with proper "Archer" stamped on them too.
The branding on the above loop is just plain bad though.

I expect it to be made of the highest quality Australia has to offer.

I was about to mention I have a couple Arch loops that came with some super cheap crap soft Razorback bars, and I didn't know if it was archer chain because I got them long before I heard of Archer. The cutters look similar. The chain seemed pretty good even then, just the bars were the worst you could get.

Cutting Logs skidded last fall ,pretty dirty. Took edge off exl Oregon ,was still cutting but had to lay on it ( using doggs ) . When chain quits doing work I switched to a new archer ,cuts as good as anything I’ve used .May have to buy couple more loops. Didn’t notice any abnormal stretch.only ran two tanks fuel.

I must be the only guy on here that doesn't like the Archer chain. Lol
Nope, You're not alone.

I have only one Archer loop which came with a saw purchase.
This one I have has lower cutting performance than Oregon LGX/Dolmar 099, gets dull equally fast in skidded logs, and it performs poorly with the bar fully buried (it pushes the saw back out of the bucking cut, LGX doesn't do that) and it bore cuts poorly (won't take a bite, unlike LGX).

I do admit that this particular Archer loop is miles better than the *s-wordty TriLink loops I got off eBay, but I wouldn't wanna use it on a daily basis - I can make a Vanguard chain perform better.

That been said, as long as the price per loop is competitive, compared to brand name products, some draw backs are acceptable.

The Archer loop I have only says "Arch" on the tie straps.
Other production batches may yield a different performance experience than mine!

I am curious to see what you think AJ. What chain have you been using?

Hello Jeff I use mostly Dolmar chain but usualy get oregon for 3/8 skip
But can’t get any 3/8 chisel skip in 050 gauge in the U.K.
so thought I’d give archer a go

Now my .043 1/4 archer bar is cutting all sorts of crooked. I filed the chain 10 times and made test cuts thinking uneven teeth or depth gauges were causing a binding curve to the left, but an above view of the last cut made it look like the bar was cutting an s shape which a straight bar can't fit in, so it would bind.
