Interesting video. Wonder if it those are still their current methods.

Have to remember that Joe Cox started manufacturing Oregon chain in his basement! (75 years ago).

Why else would I get some real deal stihl chain in a blank oilomatic box with a chinese husqvarna 365 from a chinese dealer that sells stihl copies too?

Maybe the 'real deal' chain is not? Some of the counterfeit stuff is hard to spot.

Well I couldn't tell the difference, but I wasn't looking too hard. I noticed no difference even when I switched to genuine chain.

my chinese Stihl chain:

Getting my saw ready for spring with a new loop of .325 Archer chain. This was right out of the box and the first cuts with just a couple of warm up cuts prior. Was just a little bit of stretch, not bad and comparable to any other new chain.
Will be just fine cutting some firewood I believe, not going to the races with it.

Stihl caw chain comes from China? So, they make it in Germany, ship it to China, and then to the USA? Seems like extra freight cost would be involved. Maybe that's why it runs close to $500 for a 100' reel.
Hooray finally there's something we don't pay double the price for.
I think it's 'only' around $700 over here, I haven't bought a roll in years.
As far as the archer goes I have 3 or 4 rolls in 3/8 and 404 and am very happy with it .
It has increased in price though, the first roll was low 300's now it's low 400's.

20190401_171030.jpgarcher chisel 20190401_171130.jpg upstart chisel20190401_165715.jpg different manufacturers
the archer feels more aggressive out of the box
If it holds up half as good as the upstart
I'll be happy20190401_170858.jpg archer after about 5 tanks cutting poplar and dead pine.
Called local shop today
It's dealer day's at stihl 47.70 buy one get one 50% Off
84dl made it a point to tell me it's actual stihl chain not aftermarket.
These were 26.42 shipped for 220190401_171542.jpg
Saw pic
Chain cuts as good as any out of the box stuff I've ever used
better than some
It'll be better when i sharpen it a couple time's.

I ordered a 25 foot roll of .404 x .063 skip chisel today. Will give it a try on the 41 inch bar on the Stihl 090AV sawing up some big fir logs.

I have a couple of loops of Archer 3/8 .050 68dl semi chisel standing by for my new PS-5105 when it shows up

Ordered an 18” Tsumura bar as well

Based on everything I have read about the Archer chain I didn’t even bother to order any Oregon as a backup

Fingers crossed

Czed, I have a sickening feeling that either Blount or Stihl will buy this company out and then the price of their chains, bars, pistons, gaskets, and anything else that they sell will quickly double.
I hit the "LIKE" button but I can't SAY I Like what you said if ya know what I mean..

I added a new Archer .325 pitch chain, 18" loop, to my Husky 353 on Monday morning. I filled the truck five times with mostly Siberian elm, all bucked to 18" lengths. I figure I cut about 2000 logs, many needing to eventually be split. This chain loop still cut well at the end of today's work on Wednesday. I was careful not to hit the ground too much. I may sharpen this chain loop tomorrow.

How does one complain about that performance?

Don't have too it went up to 16.97 a loop in .50 84dl
Not the bargain it was
Unless you spin your own loops.
