AF1FB80D-1905-476D-AEB9-E04B1371805F.jpeg Well smashed most of the teeth on this chain. Even bent one. Found some wire. Resharpened with a file. Brought the cutters back around near the witness line. For the abuse the saw took I was surprised the chain looked this good still. Decent chain. May have to cut the bent tooth off. I’ll be back at it again soon

Stuff holds an edge pretty well. As good as jgx Oregon. I have bore cut with it. It’s not as silky smooth as the Oregon but my Oregon loop is worn so the guages are higher. After rocking this chain out completely I’ll be curious to see how it does now. It will bore fine out of the box but it’s chattery

1/4" pitch doesn't seem to fit Oregon rim and Echo spur as good as Oregon chain. The oregon chain fits right in place, but the Archer seems to either have bigger drive links, or a slightly larger pitch (metric maybe?) because the back of the DLs rub the sprocket bad and get pushed into place instead of falling into place. I don't think it's bad enough to not run, but might cause excessive wear.

I cut a lot of pine and poplar last week
Stretched once on the first tank
Ran four more tanks through
It.
In softwoods so far it's doing good

Guy's online have told me the archer is junk
I'm just not seeing it
I ran it enough to see that it's worth it 13.00
For 84 dl shipped.
The upstart from amazon
i got for myself and my friend last spring
I got him three loops
72dl 3/8 .50 he's just now on his second chain
And he cuts and sells firewood
With his 371 i built him.
I wish they had longer than 20" loops
It was a little over 11.00 a loop
When i bought 6 at Amazon.

Yup, don't listen to those guys. Archer chain is just fine, it doesn't stretch anymore than old Carlton chain.

Last year I supplied a tree-trimming company with Archer low-profile chain loops for their top-handle saws that his climbers carry into the tree tops and work top down. The boss called me last week to make sure that I was still in business for 2019. I said, "yes." He needs at least a couple of dozen more loops. He reported no trouble at all with this chain.

AAF1521D-D383-4FF5-8D23-384D93091E06.jpeg I mentioned way back that the archer plus guy named Jerry was gonna e mail me when they had 3/8 .058 semi chisel in a skip sequence. I haven’t ordered from him since whenever I started my review in this thread.

The fact he remembered I wanted some says a little something about him in my book. I’m going to grab a loop.

What would Stihl need with cheap parts factories? I'm sure they could price their stuff more competitively, they have been recently. And I think their chain already comes from china.
Stihl caw chain comes from China? So, they make it in Germany, ship it to China, and then to the USA? Seems like extra freight cost would be involved. Maybe that's why it runs close to $500 for a 100' reel.
