Anyone directly compared the new 462 to the new 572 yet?

How would you say the power of the 462 is vs 461?

Probably a little less torque, but compared the 462 feels more "agressive", better throttle response. I wasn't able to use it with a longer bar, it's well balanced with a "20, I don't know how she'll be with a "25/"28 bar. This saw fit perfectly to the european market, most of the guys around here are using 70cc class saws all the time with short bars (believe it, most of my coworkers were using 441/372 with "16 or "18 bars until now). Now they have a lighter saw for the same purpose.

The 572 seems to be built to use longer bars in more extreme conditions, the loggers from the US west coast will love it I think. If she's reliable (and I think she is), with this great filter setup and this torque she should be awesome to cut these big cedars.

Thanks for your input! That’s good sign that they were able to extract about the same amount of power from less displacement and less weight from what your saying. I look forward to trying out both models.

Mason, the 462 has a little more displacement than a 440/441 but less than a 460/461, but is rated at the same power as a 460/461. The big ace is the hole is that it weights about 1.5 lbs less than a 460/461.

Almost as light as a 362 Ver I or 562 and more power than a 440/441/372 makes for a nice combo.

Ahhh. OK.
Thanks for that info.
Could you please provide any comparison photos when you get a chance?

If they just kept the 044 and 372 I imagine most would be happy, it's not like the wood is changing.
I'll not let my 044xb go for anything, don't care how good the new one is, the old one is already there
Emissions regulations and fuel economy are probably the reasons if I had to guess.

Yeah, I just get bored of changing for the sake of changing, if the future of the world hinges on 2t emissions in developed nations then we're screwed already.

Trucks here belch out black smoke all the time, leave my chainsaws alone!!

My 044 is not my strongest saw, but it can buck a lot of wood on a tank of fuel, and it does not hold as much as the larger saws. I'll bet it is one of the most efficient bucking saws out there.

Don't forget, part one of emissions is to kill performance!

So true there Mike ,I could only imagine the emissions coming out the rear of a jet airliner leave the saws alone

My feeling on 572 vs 462 is the 572 is I don’t think either of them will be a dud. Stihl guys will buy the stihl and husky guys will buy the husky. I’ll be a cheapass and buy the cheaper 565 and get it ported/mod it to be faster than both probably. Lol

I won't be able to afford either of them, so I will just run the saws I already have. [emoji41]
That’s what I’ll be doing or buy a 372/461 if the prices get driven down a lot on the used market.

I pulled the cylinder on a 372 I got as a gift. Needs a new piston due to a big carbon smear but the cylinder is perfect. I'll be porting it soon.

Seems like porting the older saws makes them run much stronger and better than the new saws.
Just my 2 cents. I am not quite sold on all this new saw tech.
