A 395 is a boat anchor compared to a 661, and stock they don't impress me. Ported is a different story, but I have also seen some real strong ported 661s.
Not all ported saws are created equal, even by the same builder. And sometimes conditions change, one saw likes hard wood, another soft, or hot temps, or cold, or long bar vs short bar, etc etc.
Bottom line, if you have a saw that runs good for what it is, that should be fine. My 044 will not run with a well ported hybrid, but it runs real good with a 20" bar on it, and the Strong Hybrids get 28" bars.
For me, a ported 372 or Hybrid is about the best all around saw … they both have great power to weight and great cut speed. Others may prefer larger saws, while others prefer 60 or 50 cc saws. That is fine. Use what works for you.
If you take 6 ported 661s and 6 ported 395, it is unlikely that either brand will win each race, an there is no shame in owning the slowest of the batch, as long as it is a competitive performer.
Have a good evening guys.
