A more interesting question I’d like to test is the 385xp vs a 7900 stock or ported. From my perspective the 385 has the torque advantage but the hp and cut speed feel similar between the two. The 7900 does feel lighter. Haven’t compared them directly but have owned both models. I think the 385 might pull ahead with a 32” bar but 24/28 might be close...

In my experience my 7900s were usually even with my 385s if not ahead. Either I sucked at porting 385/390 or did exceptionally good 7900s

That's just it, in small enough wood a 346 is as fast or faster than a 394. A 7900 should pull a 32" without a problem IMO. Put them both through 28"+ hard maple with a 32" bar and see which one comes out on top. To me a 24" bar on an 80cc+ saw and cutting 20" wood isn't really very telling of what's what. We don't need dynoes, just cutting material that works these saws to their full capacity.

You can stuff a ported 90cc saw in 10” of wood with a chain that’s made to cut

What in the hell thread did I just stumble in to?
I gonna hit the Tramadol and hope it eases the AS flashbacks I am having now.
Yeah, it was a sore butt festival in here for a bit. We never got our side by side comparison, people have been put on ignore and now there are frenemies.

Yeah...... I should have started a new thread. All most of us were looking for was a side by side comparison. Real world not book specs or internet rumors.
