If it is, depress the valve at the test port and see if fuel shoots out, may want a rag to cover the spray if there is any.

Them gm pumps fail when ran low on fuel over and over again the pick location kinda sux. Pump has a hard time picking up fuel whwn tank gets low then pump gets hot i worked for a company who had a fleet and pumps were allways a problem
.when we started not letting them get below 1/4 of a tank we had less problems

Yes sir. I agree. A failing pump can give a variety of different symptoms.

We will know more Friday afternoon when the parts get here. Keep in mind I have 2 of these trucks to fix. Second one exhibits similar symptoms low fuel pressure and a code.

New fuel pressure regulator put in today . Ign on 60 lbs running 50 lbs .Fuel trim is lower now around 5 was at 20 erased codes and we will see.

Next truck that has a similar problem with wont fire on first crank intermittently ,this is throwing lean codes too and the pressure is real slow to come up and the fuel pressure gauge wont move at all when I gun the throttle. New regulator going in today or tomorrow.

Oh I will. The last thing that drove me crazy was a battery drain !!!!! I hope this dont take as long to figure out as the battery drain did.

Battery draws are fun. I've seen anywhere from an alternator to an cluster. Even had a shorted out mag light drawing 2 amps.
