Any cons to having a saw ported?

Voiding warranty and possibly reduced life expectancy from increased compression and heat. That's about it.

After you start to run ported saws, a stock saw feels like something is wrong with it. Then you get used to them and can't tell what's fast and what isn't after some time.

Increasing power will obviously put more stress on the bearings, but it would be interesting to measure if opening up the muffler offsets the addl heat produced by increasing compression & port size.

Keeping a sharp chain on any saw will improve longevity.

I'll bet a piped saw really pulls the heat away.
