Everyone in western FL and much of GA needs to get their chainsaws sharpened up and a supply of fuel mix laid in. Michael looks like it could create some trouble.
I'm particularly concerned about a property we have in Milton, FL. It's far enough from the coast to not get storm surge and so forth but strong winds could still drop something on it or tear up the roof. My son is headed that way now and will be at the helm during this event.

Oh, If you're in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and even the Carolinas, this could affect ya'll as well.

Thats why gas prices been going up huh? Probably not the reason but good enough for the whores (oil companies) to jack the prices up.

I've been having trouble using the gas I had stocked up from the last one when e thought it was headed to us on the VA/NC line. I pray everyone stays safe.

Meanwhile it rains continuously here. My firewood delivery schedule is in shambles. I have never seen such lousy fall weather. :(

I filled my truck with gas and put about 35 gallons into fuel cans which will be enough for running the generator should the need arise. If we can run the generator, we can get by as we have a well, septic, wood heat, etc. If it's hot out it will be miserable without air conditioning though... We are literally at the end of the line for our power provider. We share the last pole on the circuit with our neighbors so if the power goes out it's sometimes days...
That said, it will probably be only a tropical depression by the time it would get here to middle Georgia. The Milton house is likely to suffer a pounding though.

Tell your power provider you have someone on some kind of medical life support device. They'll move you to top priority.

Yeah, but we don't. Air conditioning (or lack thereof) isn't going to do us in. We'll just hunker down and wait...
Right now it appears the storm will track slightly east of us (here in Georgia) and it also appears it may hit landfall slightly east of our FL property. Both are best case scenarios. Of course the storm will go where it goes and it won't be until after it's arrived that they'll "know" where the landfall is going to be. I suggested to my son that he gets the chainsaw and accessories ready as he may need it.
Today I'm headed to the shop to do some saw prep.

Made a couple chains to fit a 32" bar, inventoried the chains for 20 and 24" bars and tweaked a couple saws. I'm ready for any tree situations that arise (fall down) around here. Still worried about the Milton FL properties though (my son and I own houses about a mile apart) Looks like that is the "bullseye" as of last update.

Top priority means nothing. They have to fix everything from substation out. We are end of line too. My Mom was on 24hr. oxygen. We were out 7 days during Hugo. Did have generator to keep her oxygen machine running, well, lights, etc.

    Yikes!

And I was only told of that tactic by a coworker.

Where I used to live in Oz we occasionally had blackouts. I got a small generator and when the power would go down (sometimes a couple of days) I could cool down the fridge and then the wife could watch TV with a fan on her. At night we ran the air conditioner in the bedroom. It only uses a small 5 hp Honda engine and is fairly conservative on fuel.

A nice back-up, especially for the freezer and fridge.

Well, our Florida panhandle property is fine as the hurricane hit just east of there. Now, go figure, we're getting torrential rain and gusty winds here in Georgia. I think the brunt is passing south of us but we had to do the slalom on the way home tonight to miss all the broken branches down on the road. We'll see what the light of day brings... Also wouldn't be surprised if we lose power with all this rain/wind. This was a powerful hurricane and it has done a lot of damage. At least it's not lingering. It's moving right along.

We left for Cape San Blas Saturday. The storm hadn't even formed. Mandatory evac Tuesday and moved inland to Marianna. Left at 6 this morning to head back to TN. Praying for everyone in the path .

Well, Michael has come and gone through this area. Groundi and I took a walk around our property and there is no damage noted. Just a few branches down, most of them already dead. Looked up and down the road from our driveway and don't see any trees across. Our rain gauge was overflowing so we don't know rainfall totals but it holds 5 1/2 inches so it was more than that. We got tons of rain but not too strong of winds. We did not lose our power. I'm guessing that's not the case for many SE of us. This storm was really strong but didn't last long.
